Discover Farragut: Fun-Filled Activities & Charming Suburban Living

Step into the quiet suburbs surrounding Knoxville by exploring the historic town of Farragut. This growing town was originally Campbell's Station, named after a 1787 stagecoach station. Today, it's a town of over 26,000 people and home to museums, historical sites, and an 18-hole championship golf course. Residents are just 20 minutes from Knoxville along I-40, making it the perfect distance for commuters who want an easy drive without living in the city. If you're exploring the Farragut neighborhoods to find a beautiful new home, check out these local destinations full of fun things to do in Farragut. You'll find movie theaters, sports centers, picturesque parks, and more nearby.

1. Catch a new release at the Regal Pinnacle

Love watching new movies on the big screen? Farragut's Regal Pinnacle offers a premium movie-going experience with standard screens, IMAX showings on ScreenX, and 3D and 4DX options. Walking into the theater, you'll witness full concessions, an arcade, and even a fun crazy slide from the second story to the ground floor. Whether you're planning for a date night or an outing with the family or just seeking a great place to catch a matinee or late-night showing on your own, the local Regal Pinnacle is the perfect place. They have a full menu with mixed drinks alongside their standard delicious concessions, and they also share a shopping center with Crumbl Cookies, Red Robin, and Texas Roadhouse.

2. Step into history at Founders Park

If you like spending time outdoors, you'll enjoy spending time at Founders Park. Explore 17 acres of eye-catching trees, mulched walking paths, wide sidewalks, quaint picnic pavilions, and more. Families will enjoy the big open space and love the convenient benches, well-maintained trails, and vibrant flowers. Stroll across the bridge over Turkey Creek, marvel at the towering trees, and find the bronze sculptures scattered across the park grounds. If you're visiting in December, check out the Light the Park holiday lights display that has become a beloved tradition for Farragut residents.

Even better, the park is right next to the Farragut Branch Library. Swing by to pick up a good book and read it in the pleasant sunshine at Founders Park.

3. Enjoy Farragut's beautiful nature scapes at Anchor Park

Looking for even more nature to enjoy? Head to Anchor Park along the southern edge of Farragut and spend time on the shore by Fort Loudoun Lake. You can get your steps along the scenic Anchor Park Greenway trail, watch a game on the baseball field, or play a pickup game on the basketball court. There's a fishing pond with two dedicated fishing piers extending above the water, a playground area with extra swings, a sandbox, and plenty of shady pavilions. The south side also has a horseshoe pit right by the parking lot, overall making it the perfect place for a day outside.

4. Witness the amazing exhibits at the American Museum of Science and Energy

In neighboring Oak Ridge, you'll find the American Museum of Science and Energy just 23 minutes away. This museum has plenty of exhibits that cover a wide range of science fields, from robotics to weather and solar energy. But the star attraction is its focus on nuclear power and science. Oak Ridge, also known as the Atomic City, took off in the 1940s as a planned city for research and development in the Manhattan Project.

At the museum, visitors will find a Van de Graff generator, a detailed history of atomic discoveries and developments, and a big exhibit about the history of Oak Ridge's past as a "secret city." Today, the museum is a Smithsonian affiliate and stays open seven days a week. You can explore the exhibits, discover historical records, or take a bus tour of the nearby Manhattan Project National Historical Park sites. You won't want to miss this local and unique part of American history!

5. Go skating at Cool Sports

Cool Sports is the go-to indoor sporting destination for players of all ages. It houses an indoor turf field, an ice hockey rink all year round, and an ice rink for figure skating lessons and competitions. Players of all ages are welcome to learn, compete, and spectate, whether you're just learning to skate as an adult or looking for local youth or adult hockey leagues. Cool Sports also hosts the local Smoky Mountain Ice Theatre. Join the brigade and perform on the team or support the performers at their frequent events, like the Knoxville Ice Bears hockey games.

If you love skating recreationally, the facility also has a regular public skating schedule, so you can enjoy an evening of skating or a morning workout on the ice. Skaters and coaches can also use the facilities for practice sessions, private coaching, and more.

6. Have all sorts of fun at Sir Goony's

Looking for some silly fun that everyone will love? Head to the eastern edge of Farragut toward Sir Goony's Family Fun Center. This park has a whimsical mini-golf course, paintball courts, and a go-kart track. The two on-site mini-golf courses have 18 holes and are a wacky spin on conventional golfing. Try to get a hole-in-one through castles, past dinosaurs, and among giant animals. During the summer, Sir Goony's also has a Splashzone with a bounce house, tall inflatable water slides, and plenty of room to play. For fun, competitive activities, head to the Sportsland arena, which offers outdoor bowling, ladder ball, and cornhole games and space for traditional fun, such as football, soccer, and baseball. You can swing by for some impromptu fun, reserve the paintball court, or plan a party.

It also hosts tournaments that spectators, hobbyists, and professionals will want to participate in. For dedicated golfers, the club offers full individual and family membership options so you can spend some time on the green every week.
