Moving into a new house can be exciting and scary at the same time. Before you get to decorating, painting, and all of that fun stuff, here are some basics you should go ahead and get done before you move in completely:
- Make sure you change the old locks. Updating the locks ensure that no one can get into your home using an old keys, and only you and other people who you give the keys to can.
- If the are carpets, make sure you clean them or remove them. Previous owners may have had their fair share of accidents on those carpets, and it can’t hurt to give them a good cleaning or, if you’re a fan of hardwood flooring, to remove the carpeting altogether.
- Call an exterminator to make sure your house is bug-free, or to make sure that it stays that way. It can never hurt to eliminate any unwanted creatures (or the future threat of them) before you move in!
- Make sure to set up your internet, TV, postage, garbage, and fire services! These are important if you want to have a safe, clean, running household.
